In an agent-led buying flow, your product needs to be easy to evaluate by machine and human at the same time.

We already score products for usability, conversion, and retention.

Now we need another score: promptability.

Promptability is how reliably an AI agent can evaluate and recommend your product for a specific use case.

If agents are part of the shortlisting layer, promptability becomes a GTM advantage.

The Promptability Score (0-100)

Score each category from 0 to 20.

1) Clarity (0-20)

Can an agent quickly identify:

  • -->what the product is
  • -->who it is for
  • -->what problems it solves
  • -->where it is weak

Low score signals: vague messaging, generic claims, unclear ICP language.

2) Verifiability (0-20)

Can key claims be validated from credible sources?

  • -->clear documentation
  • -->case studies with concrete outcomes
  • -->transparent pricing and plan boundaries

Low score signals: unsupported claims, outdated docs, no proof assets.

3) Comparability (0-20)

Can an agent compare you against alternatives fairly?

  • -->explicit differentiators
  • -->use-case-based comparison pages
  • -->migration and fit guidance

Low score signals: defensive comparison content, no category framing.

4) Accessibility (0-20)

Can agent systems parse your content efficiently?

  • -->structured headings and schema where relevant
  • -->machine-readable product details
  • -->clean information architecture

Low score signals: fragmented pages, inconsistent taxonomy, buried critical details.

5) Freshness (0-20)

Is the information current and trustworthy?

  • -->regular content updates
  • -->release notes and changelogs linked from key pages
  • -->timestamped proof content

Low score signals: stale pricing, outdated docs, mismatched narrative across channels.

Scoring Bands

  • -->80 to 100: high promptability, strong recommendation readiness
  • -->60 to 79: visible but inconsistent, vulnerable in comparisons
  • -->below 60: likely underrepresented or misrepresented in agent outputs

Use this as a decision tool, not a vanity score.

How PMMs Should Run It

Cadence:

  • -->baseline quarterly
  • -->monthly spot-check for priority use cases

Participants:

  • -->PMM
  • -->content lead
  • -->docs lead
  • -->product representative

Output:

  • -->scorecard
  • -->top 5 gaps
  • -->owners and due dates

Do not run this as a one-person audit. Promptability is cross-functional by nature.

Example Remediation Plan

If your comparability score is low:

  • -->publish honest comparison pages by use case
  • -->add "when we are not the right fit" guidance
  • -->include migration scenarios and constraints

If your verifiability score is low:

  • -->refresh case studies with concrete metrics
  • -->consolidate proof assets into one canonical page
  • -->link proof from high-intent pages

Bottom Line

Promptability is not a copywriting project.

It is an operational score for how well your product can be evaluated in agent-mediated buying journeys.

Teams that measure it early will fix representation gaps before they become pipeline problems.

LinkedIn Version

New PMM metric to add this quarter: Promptability Score.

Definition: how reliably an AI agent can evaluate and recommend your product for a specific use case.

Score 5 dimensions (0-20 each):

Clarity Verifiability Comparability Accessibility Freshness

Bands:

  • -->80-100: recommendation-ready
  • -->60-79: visible but inconsistent
  • -->less than 60: underrepresented or misrepresented risk

Why this matters:

If buyers use agents for shortlisting, weak promptability creates silent pipeline loss.

Quick start:

  1. -->Baseline your top use case pages
  2. -->Identify top 5 score gaps
  3. -->Assign cross-functional owners
  4. -->Re-score monthly for priority use cases

Promptability is becoming a GTM quality signal, not just a content quality signal.
